John McCarthy in 1956, initiated the development of what we call ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI)’ today. In the recent years, AI has moved from the realm of science fiction to every day’s reality. From just being virtual assistants like Siri and Google Assistant, to being used in automatic cars like Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW), intelligent recommendation systems have attained success. Even appliances that we use nowadays are supported by artificial intelligence and its features.
AI is transforming the way we live, work, and interact with technology. At its core, AI refers to the simulation of human’s intelligence in machines. These are programmed in a manner to think and take decisions at the same level or even higher than humanity’s capacity.
The three types of Artificial Intelligence:
Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI).
Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) is made for specific tasks and to follow certain rules.
Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is made to act like a human in different situations, to show how flexible it is.
Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) is incredibly smart, even smarter than humans, almost like something in science fiction.
AI mainly relies on Machine Learning (ML) and deep learning. Machine Learning is all about the process of feeding algorithms with data so that they can learn. Deep learning uses neural networks with many layers to analyze data in complex ways.
Artificial Narrow Intelligence and Artificial General Intelligence is achieved by humanity by the computational power in both the past and present. But achieving Artificial Super Intelligence takes sometime as we don’t have enough computational power.
In recent times Artificial Intelligence has found various applications like healthcare, finance, transportation and AI in education, etc. Also Artificial Intelligence don’t need break and are available for 24/7 and can process a large data in short time.
Moreover, the integration of AI with other greater technologies like quantum computing, the Internet of things and 5G can unlock even greater capabilities that the humanity could imagine. Youth of the world is a value addition to these technologies. Also, Humanity should be aware of these technologies and should be concerned about both positives and negatives. Nowadays almost all devices are connected socially to people as they can talk back and help humans in their work helping them save time.
From the attempt of making computer speak to AI and quantum computing the achievements of humanity can be listed. With proper sense and not misusing the technology for self sake and not harming others, AI can do anything for humans in seconds. It simply has the ability to bring anything back in life or create anything which is impossible.
It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, except AI which can do in the blink of our eye. Artificial Intelligence is one of the reasons why we get access to everything in just one click from our couch. For Example, Samsung has brought Smart things app where we can control every Samsung appliances by using our phones. There are also many AI assistants like Siri, Gemini, Bixby, Cortana, Chat GPT, Deepseek AI, Meta AI, etc.
