Scientists search the stars, hunting for a cosmic “howdy” in the form of elusive signals. Philosophers muse over the potential meet-and-greet with extra-terrestrial beings. Would they be the friendly sort, or the kind to pinch the last snack?

This search is our human longing to find life in the cosmos, to discover if we’re the only ones hogging this universal sandbox. It’s a humorous, yet humbling thought that amidst the infinite, we might not be the sole cosmic beings.
