Gateway of India

Any visit to Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, is incomplete without a visit to the Gate of India. The construction of this iconic structure was built to commemorate the landing of George V, who was the first British Monarch to visit India, was completed in 1924. This 85 feet tall structure stands majestically besides the Arabian Sea and has become an inseparable part of the beautiful Mumbai skyline.

Mahabalipuram

The awe inspiring group of temples in Mahabalipuram are a reminder to the rich architectural legacy of ancient India. Built during the reign of famous Pallava King Narasimhavarman in 7 th Century CE. Almost every part of the temples, whether it is the grand ‘Mandapas’ or the intricately carved statues or the beautiful ‘Gopurams’ are stunning. Tourists from around the world come to this Port City of the Pallavas to admire the craftsmanship of the sculptures of the bygone era.

Red Fort

The historical fort in Delhi needs no introduction to any Indian. This is where the Indian Prime Minister delivers the speech during Independence Day every year. The fort is one more example of Mughal architecture at its peak. The red sandstone walls of the fort are what give its name ‘Lal Qila’, which when translated means Red Fort. The fort was built in the mid -17 th century during the rule of Mughal Emperor, Shahjahan. The sprawling gardens and the ornately designed halls, ‘Diwan’-e- Am’ and ‘Diwan-e-khas’, lend a regal charm to the fort.

Konark Temple

Located on the shores of the Bay of Bengal in Puri, Odisha, the Konark Temple, is dedicated to Hindu Sun God, Surya. King Narasimha I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty built the temple in 1250. The temple is known for its spell-binding architecture, depicting the Sun God Surya’s chariot in all its splendor with wheels, drawn by horses. The temple is considered one of the top examples of Kalinga architecture.

Charminar

Charminar, which means four minarets, is a monument that has become synonymous with the city of Hyderabad. Charminar was built in 1591 by Quli Qutb Shah, the fifth ruler of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. Rising to a height of 86 metres, the Charminar was constructed to be the showpiece monument, located in the centre of Hyderabad’s old city. Located on the banks of the Musi River, the iconic structure is surrounded by busy markets and the striking Mecca Masjid. It’s just wow..! The Historic monuments of India !!
