People who were born in the early 2000’s were called Gen Z or the millennial.
The Millennial is a hypocrite.
Youth and Social Media
When #BlackLivesMatter was trending, everyone posted in support of Black lives and justice for George Floyd. But when there was a case of discrimination in India, nobody spoke about the minor Dalit boy who was thrashed for entering a temple in Rajasthan. This highlights the complex relationship between Youth and Social Media, where online activism often receives more attention than local issues.
The Contradiction
Similarly, when a young actor Sushant Singh Rajput passed away, many posted about how mental health matters and that you can share anything with them. But when 59 apps were banned, including TikTok, the same people posted pictures celebrating the ban of TikTok. Despite the cringe content, it was also a source of income for many people in India. In the times of Covid-19, mocking them for their loss was inhuman. Such incidents reveal how Youth and Social Media can sometimes shape public reactions and opinions in contradictory ways.
We all Netflix and chill, and then it hits us that we have to meet deadlines for assignments and tests. Then we stressfully Netflix and chill. This is where procrastination begins. You say to yourself, “Just one more episode.” Or when you watch some random YouTube video and then get lost in another dimension. Time moves the fastest in these places. The influence of Youth and Social Media often contributes to these distractions, making it harder for students to manage their time effectively.
Avoid procrastination
All of us are procrastinators. Know a ways to stop procrastination and avoid delays. Some of us control ourselves and finish the work; some of us just go with the flow. For the latter, there lies a panic monster that lives inside them. When you start nearing your deadline, the monster wakes up and creates havoc. You panic and start your work. Somewhere, you still want to delay it, but the monster does not allow you to do so. Such is life… sigh!
