Jog back your memory

The first thing that you need to do is to change your mindset. This would come with you as parents accepting reality. Yes, children will be children. After all don’t we all love naughty kids!!! However, it does not mean that we leave it at that. There are certain ways in which we can try and resolve some of the issues arising from negative behavior of kids.

Open up channels of communication

One thing that you need to remember is that throwing your own temper tantrum in return for one from child is not the way to go. Try the positive way. Remember, a lot of times this behavior of the child could be to just get your attention. Kids do crave for the love and affection of their parents. So, give it to them. Tell them that you mean the world to them. Open up channels of communication with them, also learn to improve your communication. If they have done something wrong, tell that this behavior is just not done and offer them a solution to their issues. Is he facing bullying at school? Is he finding a subject tough to understand? Or are there any health related issues involved?  Encourage them to share their feelings with you, so that all such issues are resolved smoothly.

Make it a part of your routine

While we all agree that time has become a precious commodity these days, we still need to somehow squeeze every minute possible to spend with our children. After all do you want to miss all those moments seeing your loved one grow up? Make it a part of your routine. Spend time with them. Play with them. Help them out with their homework and other school activities. Tell them bedtime stories, be a story teller. Show them you care and this could make a world of difference in a kid’s behavior.

The emphasis should be on learning

Another important thing to remember is to make sure that you are not adding to your kid’s stress levels! For example, there are times when a student may find it difficult to cope with a particular subject or may be worried about scoring less in that subject. During such times, tell them that it is okay and through consistent efforts, they can score more. The emphasis should be on learning and not just on the marks. Similarly, there are times when students out of their eagerness, maybe participating in one activity too many after school hours, like in sports, dance, drawing classes, etc., making them feel overwhelmed, tired and irritated.
