Find your hidden talents ! Every one born in this planet has a unique talent. But how does one identify the talent or in some cases, talents? Well, here are a few tips to find your innate talent and make the most out of it.
Explore different possibilities
Participate in as many activities as possible in your school, from drawing competitions, quizzes, science fairs, essay writing contests, debates, cultural programs, to sports events, etc. This will be a journey of self-discovery. Of exploration. You will pretty soon find out your inherent talents.
Do what you enjoy
Are you someone who likes to spend hours batting or bowling in cricket nets? Or do you like hitting a zillion balls in the tennis court? Do you get lost and don’t know the hours that have passed when you begin writing? What is it that you enjoy doing? All these could be pointers to your passion. Listen to your inner calling.
Don’t ‘wish’ but ‘do’
Honesty is the best policy, whether it involves dealing with others or more importantly, with yourself. It is one thing to ‘wish’ that you were doing something and actually ‘do’ what is required. For example, you feel that you are good at soccer and want to make it big in the sport. It’s not enough wishing that you be a soccer player. You have to put in the hard work (Mr.Arunachalam Muruganantham – An Inspiring Story of Hard work and Persistent Efforts).
Ask others
Find your hidden talents ! Yes…! Seek feedback from your well-wishers, such as your parents, teachers and friends. Since they are the ones observing you closely, they will have an idea about your talents. Remember, they are some of most honest sources of opinion you can find.
Accept challenges
Whenever you want to be good at a particular activity, sport, hobby, subject, etc., keep raising your benchmarks. For example, if you feel that you are really good at singing, then don’t be satisfied by just making a name for yourself in your school. Keep challenging yourself. Try participating and winning in an inter-school event or in a reality show. Keep learning and pushing yourself. This will help you find where you stand and shine in your chosen field.
Constantly Upskill yourself
If you are truly passionate about succeeding in a chosen field, then mere talent will not be enough. Success comes to those who are constantly wanting to improve themselves in the particular field. There would be challenges in your journey towards a goal (goal setting). However, you must be ready to put your head down, work doubly hard, improve your skills and come out on tops.
